A new trailer for Microsoft's cover based shooter, Gears of War 4 was released recently and it features Marcus Fenix replacing the deadly Lancer for a gardening Hoe. It's a nice dream, but this is immediately off set by images of his son J.D running through a burning forest from an unknown enemy.
There's been a great deal of PR about Uncharted 4 lately. What with the recent influx of stills and video footage, it's been difficult not to know of this games impending release. Luckily for you, and me as well, some new footage was leaked ahead of schedule yesterday and it is my favorite one so far. Instead of gushing about how much I love this series and everyone at Naughty Dog who has made it possible over the past nine years, I'm simply going to say this. I'm more excited for Uncharted 4 than I ever was for a Final Fantasy Game. I'm not sure what that says about me as a person, but I also don't care. Now. Enjoy this glorious footage. This one is going to be fairly simple and it's also the only one I'm going to be
putting on here that I've seen completely sustain a household in terms of commission prices due to the sheer amount of clicks it can garner. Amazons affiliate marketing is something that many people are afraid of doing for a number of reason. Keep in mind that these are simply common complaints from people who are not willing to put forth the work necessary for something like this to work properly.
Well this is just a statement made out of ignorance of the way that affiliate programs work. If you've ever said something of this nature than please refer to my first post in this blog so you can get a solid understanding of how much you generally expect to make off of commission based sales.
While this is true in itself, again I need to point out that you cannot look at affiliate sales in this way. That's not how it works. You have to imagine it as small trickles of money coming from a spout, on its own, it doesn't add up to much. But what if you had 400 different spouts giving you roughly $0.09 a day? .09 * 400 = 38 * 30 days in a month = $1,080 in a month. Do you see where I'm going with this. That's a lot of extra money to have at the end of the month. That's an exaggerated number mind you, but if you spread affiliate links around far enough you could be looking at a number five times that amount. The best method of doing this with Amazon is by placing links into relevant blog posts. By mixing this strategy with effective SEO and key word placement, you can almost guarantee that you will be making money. It's been awhile, wouldn't you say? Well it wont last long, I'm simply here to tell you all that I've been extremely busy with various projects and that I have not forgotten you all. Something caught my interest today though and I'd like to share it with you. For those of you who don't know: I LOVE ATTACK ON TITAN!!!!! Just, beyond words. I'm telling you this because i rediscovered something today while working. There is a new AoT game being developed by Koei Tecmo, the the current and least generation systems. If you don't know who these people are, (shame on you, first of all) They are the folks behind the Dynasty Warriors series. Those games are basically button mashing, destructive good times. I have extremely high hopes for this game and am almost literally dying of anticipation. The game is slated for 2016, but as with most games, I'm not holding my breath. Not only because i would be dead with a few minutes, but also because games rarely come out on time these days. Anyway, I need to go do other things now, so have fun everyone and if you haven't already, go check out the Pickled Whale Gaming YouTube Channel, I've been doing fun things over there. I'll leave you with the trailer for the Attack on Titan Game to drool over in my absence. So it finally happened. Final Fantasy VII’s remake has been announced, while there’s no release date yet, it is a step in the right direction. This of course comes with its own host of problems such as trying to deliver a product that can live up to the momentum this hype train is going to produce. It will almost be reminiscent of the spectacle and eventual implosion that was final fantasy XIII. While it’s true that XIII spawned two sequels that sounded like an incredibly epic tale in theory. It failed miserably in their execution. To be completely fair here, living up to the legacy of Final Fantasy VII at this point is an almost insurmountable task, even for the series itself. Given that the creators have made it well known that aspects of the story will be changed as well as the battle system; I don’t see this going over very well. I along with many other people took this to mean only one thing. Aerith is going to either survive her shanking or that part of the game will be changed all together. I know a lot of people wished she could have lived at the time and there are probably people losing their minds over the prospect of having Aerith live to see the journey through to its end. But is this really what people want? Please consider the following. Would Cloud have ever bothered pursuing Sephiroth, had he not murdered Aerith? Short answer: Probably not. Not because he’s a sociopath but because at his core he is not an ambitious individual. This coupled with his ability to detach himself from even the strongest pulls of emotion culminate to one thing. Not givin’ a FUCK, It’s what Cloud does best. Here was a kid (17 at the time of the games story) who walked away from a loving home and the perfect example of the girl next door who is completely devoted to him. Only to become a soldier, now call me un-Patriotic if you want, but under no circumstances am I ever going to accept that as being rational behavior. While that previous fact may contradict the point I’m making here, just stick with me here to the end and I promise this will all pay off. When we first meet cloud during a raid on one of the reactors that powers Midgar he comes off as a complete dick that only cares about his own wellbeing. The concept of Eco-terrorism is completely lost on me at this point mind you; I had no idea that for a time you were technically the bad guy. Fuckin' Avalanche. I know this is a short post but trust me. Over the next few weeks I think you’ll agree with me when I tell you that Cloud was actually the true evil in Final Fantasy VII and the only thing that turned him around was the death of Aerith. If you don't believe me or think i'm insane, just stick around.
I dont really have anything to say about this yet. Just watch it and love it.
Jurassic World. I have so much to say about this movie but at the same time I don’t know if I really want to yet. After waiting more than ten years for this sequel, I’m not entirely sure if I’m satisfied with the end result. Now amazingly this isn’t one of those situations where expectations were too high to be realized. It’s simply a situation where I expected to the movie to be truly awful and during some parts I think that I was right. Now I don’t want you to think of this as any kind of attack towards the film or anyone involved in its creation. But here we go. I have spent the majority of the past decade googling Jurassic Park four. And it seemed like every time I did there was some new information about possible cast members and plot details and every time I would be devastated when it came to light that none of it was real. After a while I stopped caring and wouldn’t you know it, Jurassic world is officially announced by universal. I was absolutely over the goddamn moon about this. At least until I realized that none of the cast from the first three would be in it. Then I learned that the star of the film would be Chris Pratt. I don’t care how many of you stop reading after that last comment. I’m not entirely sure what it is about this guy but he just bugs me, it’s probably not even him as a person. It’s most likely the people and insanity surrounding him because I’ve honestly never seen him in anything that I didn’t enjoy his character in. I even watched parks and recreation a few times and he was very funny. Anyway like I said I don’t know what it is about him exactly, but I immediately discounted this film after I had heard that. I thought the story of the film was fitting, considering that Dr. Wu showed up. I never really expected him to turn out to be such a douche and I’m almost positive he died in the first novel. So maybe he should have stayed dead. Other than the fact that he was the lead Geneticist he could have been completely cut from the film. There was villain enough in that fat guy from InGen who wants the Raptors weaponized….somehow? Speaking of the Raptors, this was my largest problem with the movie. To be more specific about that, my problem was with the raptor pack chase scene. I get that the movie was intended for a different generation and that’s fine. I’m sure this movie did for a lot of kids what the original film did for me and so many others. But seriously, that was stupid. Raptors are like the Wasp of the Dinosaur world, their only reason for existence is to murder everything, just like a wasp’s only purpose is to kill and be a dick. Raptors are not your bros; they are the perfect killing machine and the only reason that they don’t still exist is because of a giant space rock. I’m getting off topic here but I think I’ve made my stance on this part of the film clear. The super hybrid dinosaur was ten different kinds of rad though. From the moment that thing broke out of its pen by tricking its captors I was in love. When I was finally able to see the entire thing though I have to say I was kind of…. I don’t want to say let down because the thing was a total badass but after all the talk about the thing online and even in the movie I was expecting it to be this giant hulking unstoppable beast. Turns out though, it was just the fat kid who bullied people on the playground. Big and loud, but able to be taken out by anyone who bothered to stand up to him. To be completely fair here the thing was tag teamed, but still. There was this weird unnecessary part of the film where the kids who I assumed were the main characters, discussed how their parents were getting a divorce. Then it was never spoken of again. So that happened. They also just didn’t seem to fit into the film as well as Lex and Tim did in the first film. Another thing I didn’t like about the movie as a whole was its open endedness. I don’t really know why I just wish the film had ended on a more final note. Anyway I suppose overall this was an outstanding film even though it could have been so much more, I did enjoy it for what it was. I can’t say I want to see another one but maybe that’s just because I’m not five anymore. My opinion: Go see the movie, just don’t expect the world from it. Despite the title. Ok so it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted anything to the blog page of this BLOG. If by chance you read the stuff that I put here, I would like to apologize for my absence. You’ll be happy to know however, I have been hard at work writing, recording and plotting things for the site. I won’t say too much at the moment but I will let you know a few things. First, I have been recording let’s play videos which will be posted here as well as YouTube. The first series is about 30% done at this point only because I have been recording multiple series at the same time so as to provide you all with more content. Second, I have been working harder on the Alive series and at this point in time have completed roughly thirty pages of the journal. So be sure to keep on the lookout for the continued Adventures of L alongside his friends in the coming weeks. That’s all I’m going to be saying for now but we do have a secret project that we are working very hard on. The problem is that it can only be worked on about three days every other week due to scheduling. So I really have no time frame as for when it will be completed at this point. Just know that it will be quite amusing……also offensive to someone I’m sure. I don’t really have a set schedule for releases on anything though as you can imagine. But for now I will try to upload Alive pages three times a week and once videos are ready to be rolled out I’m looking to do those Monday through Friday. As for other things I’m doing the only thing I can tell you is to click on the twitter bird “Larry” at the top of the page to follow me on twitter, seems like your best bet if you’d like to stalk me. I want to end this on a very positive note so I’ll do so by saying Thank you. Thank each and every one of you that reads my blog. You have given me the ability to do something that I truly love and I could never thank you enough for that. Okay so after all the nonsense trying to get to this point, here we are. Okay well here "they" are i should say. The official Pickled Whale Gaming T-shirts are now available for order HERE. In case you missed it before here is the final design on the back of the shirts. Why is it in black and white you ask? that's an excellent question. regrettably it is not one that i can answer for you as i don't know anything about screen printing. I'm sure at some point they will be available in color, but i personally enjoy the black and white look. I feel it captures the old time-y gentlemen atmosphere of the picture.
Anyway, like i said they can now be ordered at the link up at the top and i will also put it down here in case you missed it. http://teespring.com/PickledWhale |
